IOA to introduce Awards

The IOA Group will convene at January’s EAG Expo with a pledge to champion and encourage innovation in manufacturing across all sectors of the pub machine business. The national machine operator, which has 25 depots spread from Dundee to St Austell and Glasgow to the Isle of Wight, will be announcing the winners of the first IOA Innovation Awards at a presentation event taking place on Tuesday 25h January at London’s ExCel exhibition centre, home of the EAG.

John Powell, Chairman of the IOA Group has been encouraged by the industry’s response to the Innovation Awards. He stated: “We have received some outstanding nominations for our two awards which comprise the ‘most innovative’ and ‘outstanding’ products of 2010. As an organisation that is independent of any third party interests we work extremely closely with the manufacturing sector helping it to bring products to market and understand fully the pressures it faces.

“The big danger for any industry facing unhelpful legislation set against an extremely difficult economic backdrop is that R&D budgets get squeezed and in some cases disappear entirely. The IOA awards were born out of a desire to recognise those manufacturers who, despite the depressed market and despite having to rationalise their businesses, continue to innovate.

“Product innovation supported by a more sympathetic approach to legislation from the Coalition Government, both of whose parties were supportive in opposition, will be the driving forces behind recovery in the pub machine sector.”
