Mocap debuts at EAG

Premiering at the upcoming EAG International Expo, new exhibitor Mocap games will be introducing a variety of new innovations in technology from the next world of digital entertainment.

Part of the Animazoo group (which also includes interactive animation specialists Animaive), Mocap games is a manufacturer and developer of immersive experiences, utilising the company’s own world leading motion capture technology.

Operations Manager Paul Collimore revealed the strategy behind Mocap games’ forthcoming EAG International presentation: “In the twenty years since its formation, Animazoo has become a foremost developer of motion capture technology. Our systems are used in the film industry, by games developers such as Ubisoft, and enjoy pioneering hi-tech industrial and medical applications.

“The company’s decision to take this technology into the leisure attractions market has already earned us two IAAPA awards with our Animalive systems, and our client portfolio includes some of the top leisure and entertainment brands including Merlin Entertainments, Butlins, Warner Brothers and Sea Life Centres. We believe that motion capture technology allows FEC’s and attractions to offer an experience that cannot be replicated in the home entertainment environment. Whether our games are on a pay to play basis or form part of an attraction, they are sure fire business-builders.

“As new entrants to the amusements and attractions sector, we’re very much looking to the EAG International community for feedback on our premium simulator-style new games. Along with our Managing Director Ali Kord, the technical support team and I are all looking forward to demonstrating these exciting games,” added Paul.

For EAG International Expo 2013, taking place January 22-24th, Mocap games will be showing games concepts where the player interacts by wearing a motion capture suit. This results in such motion capture games effectively becoming transformed into attended simulator style attractions. Games such as Sci-shooter are available for use in an enclosed arena style environment, whilst others, such as Vertigo, a rock-climbing adventure, are displayed on large HD screens.

Debuting at EAG International Sci-shoota, is a two to six player immersive experience which literally puts the player at the heart of the game. Players sit on a pivoting seat wearing visor-like immersive displays and the actions of a virtual mechanical robot are controlled via a quick-to-fit upper body-suit.

In an industry where the word ‘innovative’ is often over-used, visitors to the Mocap games stand will have first sight of some truly startling technology and for FEC and attractions operators seeking a point of differentiation, this has to be a priority visit.
