Sceptre Leisure joins BISL

Sceptre Leisure, one of the UK’s largest machine operating companies, has joined BISL, Business In Sport and Leisure, the organisation representing the broader UK leisure industry.

InterGame learned this morning that Sceptre had transferred its industry representation away from BACTA and into BISL, apparently seeking to take advantage of BISL’s strong lobbying activities.

Sceptre, which has been the subject of considerable speculation this year – reportedly being courted by German giant Gauselmann Group – has 24,500 machines in its estate. The majority of this equipment is front-line pub gaming machines in leading retailers’ sites.

The arrival of Sceptre means that BISL now has 144,000 machines directly under its influence – more than half the established base of payout machines in  Great Britain.

Nick Harding, Chairman of BISL’s Gambling Group, commented: ”I am delighted to welcome Sceptre Leisure in to the BISL Gambling working group. I know Ken Turner and his team well and have no doubt that they will play an active part in our lobbying activities and will also add to the depth of experience in our recently formed Machines Sub Group which has already agreed a comprehensive list of issues and objectives (both regulatory and technical).”
