Sound Leisure the Contactless Payment Specialist

Sound Leisure introduced the NFC contactless payment system when it launched the VHub jukebox. Since then Sound Leisure, in response to customer demand, has converted a wide range of machines to the contactless technology.

The latest conversion is to a SAM Leisure pool table,

“From the beginning of the year through to April more contactless transactions were processed than for the whole of 2011. This is a trend that is set to continue and that is why when we launched the VHub we built in the flexibility to allow the NFC readers to be retrofitted at any time. We firmly believe that this technology will be highly beneficial to our industry moving forward,” said Sound Leisure, Managing Director, Chris Black.

“Sound Leisure has become something an NFC specialist over the past few years. The SL team have a good understanding of the technology and we have worked on some very interesting projects together, we even fitted the NFC readers to collection buckets for a choir in London,” says Ian Griffiths from Teckpro, who designed the NFC device that Sound Leisure install.

SAM Leisure were thrilled with the conversion of their pool table and don’t rule out future developments along these lines for the industry. “There is little doubt that contactless payment could be a fantastic option for pool and hockey tables, which could not only attract players but make the life of operators a lot easier too,” says Managing Director Gary Drage.
