Nick Rudd becomes MD at Bob Rudd

Nick Rudd (pictured) has become the Managing Director of Bob Rudd Leisure. His father, who founded the operating company in 1989, will become Chairman.

“It is time I took more of a back seat in the day to day running of the company,” Bob Rudd told Coin-op Community today. “Nick is more technically minded and he is planning all kinds of exciting new developments for the company.”

One of the most well-liked people in the industry, Bob Rudd founded the company with a single jukebox and now employs over 100 people with a turnover of £6.6m.

The company has decided to mark the new era with a redesign of its logo and a name change simply to Bob Rudd.

Nick told local paper NE Business: “That’s what all our customers know us as. We wanted to change the image and we are working with a branding business. We have updated the image completely.

“My dad is handing over after 23 years and he has worked in the industry for 40-plus years. He’s still very much hands-on, but he felt it was time for me to step up into this role.”

The company will unveil its brand redesign to staff members on Friday and Coin-op Community will bring you more news on this next week.

The company, which already has a strong digital presence is also exploring new technology within pubs. The company has spent over £100k on developing smart phone apps with a third party developer.

“It is too early to reveal exact details of what we are developing,” said marketing manager Helena Wade. “But we are very aware that people are using their smart phones while they are in pubs and we feel there should be a tie-in with the machines that are there as well.”
