Electrocoin Manufacturing Closes

We are sad to announce the closure of the Electrocoin MFG factory in Caerphilly Road, Cardiff.

The company has experienced a downturn in orders over recent years, as has the whole of the amusement machine manufacturing industry. Measures to combat the downturn had been applied and the company had tailored its workforce accordingly.

However, the company was forced to close its doors for the final time after 20 years of trading. John Collinson said, “We are sorry to see our loyal employees leave the company and wish them well for the future.”

Electrocoin Sales and Electrocoin MFG are separate trading companies and have operated totally independently of one another for many years, with the majority of Electrocoin MFG’s production being with other customers. As a result, the closure of the Caerphilly Road factory does not impact on Electrocoin Sales or Aftersales.

That’s so sad. Will the arcade in Goodge Street be affected/remain open?

It is sad to see a company such Electrocoin MFG forced to close it’s doors after serving the British coin machine industry so well for more than 25 years.

John Collinson and John Stergedies have contributed tremendously to the growth of the amusement sector during that time, and are now left with no alternitive but to close their doors during the worst recession in the history of the coin machine industry worldwide.

Electrocoin were best known for producing the famous Bar X range of AWP machines, this machine is probably the most successful AWP in British Coin Machine history.

I wish the two John’s my best wishes in the future , you will be sadly missed as coin machine manufacturers.

This is just so sad. The whole amusement industry seems to be in danger of vanishing completely. I still have a number of Electocoin machines in my arcade. They are so well made that they just seem to go on forever! The blame for this lies with home computers & consoles and the smoking ban.Nearly all machine players smoke. You can’t play a fruit machine standing OUTSIDE a pub/arcade!
