Punch boldy offers cut-price coin-op

The Publican reports today that Punch licensees are being offered an eight-week cut-price trial of gaming machines to see if it will help boost trade.

Project Star Trek is aimed at licensees who have yet to have machines, but want to “boldly go” ahead with a trial, Punch said.

Nineteen machines have already been installed at Punch pubs, the company said. “The type of machine best suited to the pub, ranging from AWP, SWP, music and pool, will be discussed in detail with our partners,” said group purchasing director John Healy.

“If they would like to go ahead, a rent for the trial is then set at a lower than standard rate.

“The machine operator collects the income from the machine, deducts VAT, rent and HMRC licence duty and the remaining income is then shared between the partner and Punch.”

He added: “This is a is really simple way for us to offer a risk free trial for partners to help them achieve what could potentially be a lucrative income stream for their business.”
