DP Leisure opens sixth 360 Play FEC

Milton Keynes, UK, based family entertainment centre operator DP Leisure (DPL) has continued the roll out of its 360 Play family play centre brand with the opening of its sixth location, in Farnborough, Hampshire.

The company currently operates successful sites in Milton Keynes, Stevenage, Leicester, Basildon and Redditch and has continued the expansion of what is one of the UK’s leading family play centre brands by opening its newest venue within The Mead’s Shopping Centre in Farnborough.

Housed within a 20,000sq. ft. first floor unit, the new 360 Play venue follows the company’s highly successful entertainment formula with a wide range of activities for all young children, from toddlers up to the age of 12. Everything included is designed so that adults can also join in and engage with their children through play, ensuring the centre offers a true family day out.

As with the existing 360 Play sites, design and master planning of this latest project was carried out by DPL’s sister company, DP Associates (DPA), who also project managed the build. As with the Redditch centre, this latest 360 Play venture is a departure from the norm as far as the location is concerned, with all the other venues being sited on leisure parks or similar, rather than within a shopping centre. The site includes a range of retail stores and the addition of 360 Play brings a whole new offer to the town as a retail and leisure destination for families.

It is said that the cohesion and adaptability of any industry are only truly apparent during testing times. Last week the UK amusements and coin-op industries passed such a test with flying colours when a fire at Chelsea Football Club forced a last-minute change of venue upon The Autumn Coin-Op Show.

Organiser Karen Cooke explained, “We were extremely fortunate in securing space at Olympia London, located only two miles from Chelsea Football Club, and still viewed with affection by many in our industry. I have to say that a huge ‘thank you’ is due to the team at London Olympia. They really pulled out all of the stops; we actually signed the Tenancy Agreement on the Monday and met the scheduled opening time of 10.00 am on the Wednesday.

Karen Cooke continued, “Our exhibitors were amazing, they rallied round and were highly supportive; delivering what turned out to be a very good show.”

On the show floor, the mood was upbeat with several exhibitors reporting their best ever ACOS.
