Mobile Zip Line will create new LIW experience

Visitors to this year’s Leisure Industry Week (LIW) trade show at the NEC in September are set to enjoy a brand new experience at the event when the Mobile Zip Line, the latest addition to the Innovative Leisure product range, makes its LIW debut.

The Mobile Zip Line received its official European launch in March this year and has proved to be another popular addition to the company’s growing range of interactive family attractions. Already enjoying major success in the US events and attractions market, the Mobile Zip Line is being distributed exclusively in the UK and Europe by Leicester based Innovative Leisure. A fully operational version of the ride will be on display at LIW and will act as an interactive show feature with visitors being able to ride the zip line to the outdoor exhibit area.

Access for riders of the attraction is via a steel staircase which takes them to a height of 8.3m (28ft). At the top of the stairs, participants enter the launch barrel which protects them from fall exposure until they are safely connected to the zip line. When ready to go, the operator opens a rotating safety gate and the rider is then able to take the ‘leap of faith.’

At the opposite end of the attraction, an innovative, patent pending brake technology, the Auto-Retract®, is employed to slow only the last part of the ride in a smooth, carefully controlled action. This is a mechanised device that replaces the old method of stopping zip line riders by hand. Significantly it solves one of the most potentially dangerous aspects of any zip line, the stop, while also returning the trolley to the top of the attraction for the next rider, hence the name ‘Auto-Retract.’

Another key aspect is the easy set-up procedure. A 12 volt hydraulic lift system stands the tower in place at the touch of a button, the zip lines are secured and an inflatable wall is positioned at the lower end for a little ‘added rider intimidation.’ Total set-up time is approximately 30 minutes..

“We are really excited to have Innovative Leisure back at LIW, this time with their biggest presence ever,” said David Sanvoisin, LIW Event Manager. “The Mobile Zip Line will provide an exciting major feature for the Play & Attractions sector at LIW allowing visitors to literally ‘zip’ to the outdoor attractions area. This is very much in keeping with the great interactive elements that Innovative Leisure is so well-known for. Play & Attractions at LIW will have a real buzz this year with a wide range of new products and services for visitors to try out, enhanced by a strong association presence and a comprehensive free education programme.”

The Mobile Zip Line will be just one of the products on show at LIW from Innovative Leisure. Others indoor exhibits will include a fully operational SkyTrail High Ropes Course, which will be the central feature of the Play & Attractions section, and a Climbing Wall, while in the outdoor section, a Water Wars water balloon game will be in operation.
