Climbing towers prove their versatility

What do an outdoor centre, a charity, a local authority and a fire service all have in common? They’ve all just purchased Climbing Towers from UK-based interactive family attractions specialist Innovative Leisure.

Climbing Towers/Walls have been a very successful product for the company for many years and have proved a popular choice with a wide range of operators and organisations for many different reasons. And the diversity of the client list is clear for all to see in some of the most recent sales made by Innovative Leisure.

At the Eye Feel Good charity foundation in Northern Ireland, which aims to raise money through organised events, donating to those living with cancer within the community, founder Richard Fee took delivery of his wall in April. The attraction will be used for fund raising events for the charity while also being hired out and Fee commented:  “As a charity we were given the opportunity of some funding and thought long and hard about how we should use it. Having decided on a Climbing Tower we did a lot of research into suppliers and read about Innovative Leisure. We wanted to use an experienced company and having made some inquiries were very impressed with what Innovative Leisure had to offer and their customer service, so we decided to buy from them.

“We’ll be using it for fund raising activities for our own charity as well as hiring it out for corporate days, to local councils and to other groups, to raise additional funds for our charity. We’ve only had it for a week but it’s proving massively popular with the local community.”

Another recent delivery has been made at Llŷn Adventures in North Wales, which provides a range of outdoor activities for ‘anyone looking for a bit of excitement and a challenge.’ The organisation’s climbing tower features a number of different climbs that make it suitable for a wide range of ages and abilities. It will be used by the organisation as one of its activities as well as being available for hire at shows, events, college open days, private functions, corporate events and more.

“We are very pleased with the new tower,” said the company’s Chris Thorne. “It has been a great success and has already introduced many new customers to Llŷn Adventures. Over the summer we will be taking it on the road to events across North Wales and using it at the Porthdinllaen Café in Morfa Nefyn.”

Additional towers due for delivery in the UK for the 2012 season, and which show further the diversity of organisations utilising such products, include one to South Ayrshire County Council in Scotland, which will receive theirs in May, and another to Cleveland Community Fire Service for June delivery. This latter tower will be a European first for Innovative Leisure in that it will be the first galvanised trailer Grip-a-Rock tower to be delivered, the most realistic rock surface on the market.

While Innovative Leisure supplies towers in sizes ranging from 5.5m (18ft) to 10m (32ft), all the above mentioned are 7.3m (24ft) models, the most popular choice with customers, in particular  those looking for a mobile climbing wall. Every tower comes with a unique Hydraulic Auto Belay device which utilises a hydraulic system with steel cables and offers more support and a safer climb than a tape clutch belay or similar devices.

And as with all Innovative Leisure’s Climbing Towers, they are manufactured to the highest of standards in a one piece fibreglass surface and are unique in that they come with full ADIPS certification, the UK’s Amusement Device Inspection Procedures Scheme which provides independent inspection and certification of amusement devices and is fully endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Outside of mainland UK, Innovative Leisure has also recently completed orders for towers for Ardmore Adventures in the Republic of Ireland, another outdoor centre, as well as to Denmark, while another of the company’s climbing attractions, a Coconut Tree Climb, has been sold to a client in Cyprus.
